Then arrange and format the excerpts to compose your own poem.

Found Poems
Compose your own found poem based on a descriptive literary passage.
First select a passage and then pick out descriptive words, phrases and lines. You can highlight, circle or underline
Then arrange and format the excerpts to compose your own poem. Make it look like a poem, i.e., title, short lines, stanzas.
This process of recasting the text in a different genre helps writers become more insightful readers and develop creativity in thinking and writing. Writing tip: you’ll be primarily identifying nouns and verbs for use in your poem.
Second Person Point of View
to immerse the reader in the experience of actually “being” the protagonist
to engage the reader in an extremely rich sensory experience
to force the reader to imagine herself as part of the experience
Remember, second person POV uses YOU, rather than I/me, he/she/they

* cite from the poem you choose to support your claims.

Choose a poem (as always, the Poetry Foundation and poets.org are great to browse for poems) and write a 2-3 page response addressing how the poet uses voice and imagery in the poem. Address this using these questions as a guide:
* How does the voice the poet employs add to the meaning and experience of the poem?
* How does the poet use imagery in the poem? What is the effect?
* Cite from the poem you choose to support your claims.
