(alexie 132)).

. Discuss the adjective “Part-time” used in the title of the book The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-time Indian by Sherman Alexie. How does Junior feel half Indian and half white, as he explains in this quote from the beginning of the chapter “Dance, Dance, Dance”: “Traveling between Reardan and Wellpinit, between the little white town and the reservation, I always felt like a stranger. I was half Indian in one place and half white in the other. It was like being Indian was my job, but it was only a part-time job. And it didn’t pay well at all.” (Alexie 118). Discuss the above quote in relation to Gordy’s profound observation after Junior reveals why Rowdy calls him an apple at the end of the chapter “Don’t Trust Your Computer”, (“Well, life is a constant struggle between being an individual and being a member of the community.” (Alexie 132)).

Watch the short 3-minute video Jar of Life. (Links to an external site.)After watching the Jar of Life video, write down three of the “golf balls” in your life. In other words, what are the three most important things in your life? Identifying the important things in your life, will help you to prioritize how to make decisions on how you spend your time.
Watch the short 5-minute video Stephen Covey’s Time Management Matrix (Links to an external site.).After watching the Time-Management Matrix video, you will notice that all of our actions fall into one of the four quadrants. Write a list of 15 or more specific actions you have taken in the past two days. Be specific. It could be watching TV, writing an essay for your English class, going to dinner with friends, taking care of an elderly parent or young child, or posting on social media apps, getting ready for the day etc., Be sure to include a variety of actions.
Write down the four quadrants as you saw in the video, then take your list of 15+ actions from step 2A and write them down in the appropriate quadrant on your chart.Quadrant 1 Important, Urgent
Quadrant 2 Important, Not Urgent
Quadrant 3 Not Important, Urgent
Quadrant 4 Not Important, Not Urgent
After watching both videos, write a paragraph about your thoughts and feelings. Use this as an opportunity to learn more about yourself. Remember that your response is confidential so only I (Professor) will be reading your answers. Feel free to engage in deep self-reflection. Be sure to address the following in your paragraph: Write about one thing you have learned from the Jar of Life video, and be sure to discuss how you will apply it to your life moving forward.

We forgive because we wish to be forgiven.

Just need two responses in both of these ways:
Describe an experience that you have had with forgiveness and relate it directly to something specific your classmate has posted about forgiveness. (Use a quotation from your classmate’s post.)
Tell about a time when you forgave someone or were forgiven by someone, and explain how that made you feel.
Discussions for responses:
1. Tell about a time in your life when you made a big mistake and wanted a “do over.”
The biggest moment in my life that needed a “Do over” was when I lost myself with addiction. I had lost custody of my oldest son to his mother and went through a deep plunge into depression that saw me try to numb myself with drugs. I did not realize it at the time how much my son needed me more than ever because he did not have me there everyday anymore. I was caught up in my own self pity and did not realize how much my actions were keeping me from him and actually hurt him. I went through this for a few years before I found myself at what for me was rock bottom. It was at this time that I found my relationship with God. So, the thing I did wrong was not be there for my son while using drugs. My son was who I hurt by doing this and the results where that I did not have him in my life. After finding God, I cleaned myself, and went back to college. I now work for a rehabilitation center helping those dealing with addiction. My son has forgiven me, lives with me now and our relationship is better than ever. None of this would have happened if I had not made the choice to trust Gods will for me and work towards a better life that my kid could be a part of.
In Mathew 18: 21-22 I believe Jesus is saying that we should forgive each other without stipulation. That we should not look at how many times we do but look at the character of that person and if his actions are worthy then we should be willing to let him prove himself. We forgive because we wish to be forgiven.
In Luke 17:3-5 I believe Jesus is saying that if someone does something wrong to us then we should separate ourselves from that person but if that person comes to us trying to make amends, we should give that person the opportunity to make things right.
If we did something horrible to someone else and we know what we did then we should make the effort to try and make things right. Making things right is what we do for ourselves and the person that we wronged. This is how we are able to find peace and be able to move on from our wrong doings. Our value is in our actions and how we carry ourselves.
2. I made many mistakes with my son during those challenging teenage years. We were arguing, and I told him to leave our house. I said things to him that I regretted, and he stayed with his father for a couple of days. When he returned home, we had a long talk with many tears, and I apologized for hurting him. Even though I am the parent, it was important to show my child I make mistakes and apologize for my words. We spent a lot of time working on our communication, and we have an excellent relationship today. Our family does not talk about their feelings, and I am trying to break the cycle with my son.
I believe Jesus means we must forgive people if they acknowledge their offense or sin. If we want to be forgiven for our faults, we must do the same for others. We all have done something we regret, and I hope I am forgiven for my sins.
If someone does something horrible to me, I must be clear about why their words or actions hurt me. Sometimes, people may not know exactly how the offense affected you. We need to be accountable for our actions, show we are sorry and try our hardest not to do it again.
When reading John 7: 53-8:11, the woman does not ask for forgiveness. Jesus tells her to go and no longer commit adultery. It is valuable to say why we need God to forgive us. Many say God knows what is in your heart, which may be accurate, but we must repent. As hard as this is for me, God will forgive all sins. I understand it is not my place to pass judgment, and I am working on learning how to forgive.
