Learning Goal: I’m working on a management presentation and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
Book Summary: The Leadership Challenge: How to make extraordinary things happen in organizations
I selected the leadership book “The leadership challenge”, the fifth edition by Kouzes and Posner. The book was initially published in 1987, with the fifth edition released in 2017. The authors delve into leadership practices and how organizational leaders can leverage various leadership skills to ensure they meet their organization’s strategic goals and objectives. They developed The Five Practice Leadership to understand what corporate leaders must do to motivate their teams and simultaneously inspire all employees at all levels within the organization.
The book’s primary theme revolves around motivational leadership to inspire teams to work towards achieving organizational goals. The authors suggest that the leadership style chosen by an organizational leader significantly influences organizational outcomes. Therefore, by reading this book, current leaders and aspiring leaders can learn how to motivate and inspire their teams, more so through transformational leadership techniques to ensure that they have highly motivated and efficient teams.

.Getting Started (For these instructions I will use “author” even though you might be reading and reporting on a book with two or more authors.)
While reading the book, take notes and be thinking about class content covered up to this point and how it might relate to the book. If you find reviews of the book on the Internet or elsewhere, cite and reference them.
Introduce the subject, scope, and type of book
Identify the book by author, title, and publishing information including the year published.
Explain how the book relates to topics covered in our course.
Provide some background information on the author—what she or he has done in the past to make her or him an expert on the subject.
Summarize the content
Provide an overview, including paraphrases and quotations, of the book’s most important content. DO NOT paraphrase and quote extensively from the book—your paper needs to be mostly in your own words.
Discuss your reactions to the book
Share your thoughts about how the author presented the key topics of the book.
Respond to the author’s viewpoints: What do you agree with? And why? What do you disagree with? And why?
Have your thoughts about and your understanding of leadership changed since reading the book?
Conclude by summarizing your ideas
Briefly restate your main points of the book. Do you think the book has value or usefulness to those who want to sharpen their leadership skills? Do you recommend the book? Why? Close with a direct comment about the book, and tie together issues raised in the review.
Rewrite, rewrite, rewrite
All good writing is rewriting. Put your review aside for a few days and then look at it with fresh eyes. Check for flow and transitions between paragraphs and sections. Are the ideas in the proper sequence? Is your language clear and direct? Ask a friend to proofread/copyedit or take it to a student tutor or trusted professor. Writing is one of the most important skills acquired in college; this paper grade can make (or break) your final grade in this course. I have to read the work, please give it your best efforts.
